Karen Roy is a highly proficient, result driven executive with extensive sales, marketing and channel management experience. Over the past 18 years she has specialized in the telecom, Internet and retail industries. In addition, Karen has administrated various aspects of the human resource field; coaching, training and development of positive employee relations. Karen has wide-ranging knowledge of management techniques, sales and operations. She is a confident professional with a positive outlook.
As District Sales Manager- Retail Sales for Bell Canada, Karen interviewed, selected and trained eleven new managers to be part of a powerful, diverse team. This team delivered superior results for a newly created district within the Retail Sales. Karen also accepted the task of creating positive employee relations. Performance and employee morale was significantly increased by her efforts to maximize the use of employee skills within the company.
During the amalgamation of Bell Canada Phonecentres and Bell Mobility stores (now Bell World), Karen was chosen to assist in a special task force that transitioned two-thirds of the Ontario South Bell Retail team to other departments while maintaining positive employee morale, sales and customer service. Karen consistently maintained focus on improving employee satisfaction through the creation and facilitation of various training modules. These modules were used throughout Ontario, receiving positive feedback and recognition from the Bell World President and Senior Executive team.
Karen was brought on board as Director of Sales and Marketing for In Touch Communications. She was instrumental in creating an inside and outside marketing department. This strategy enabled their three stores and corporate department to offer one-stop shopping. Karen produced new revenue streams that allowed ITC to expand their customer reach to include the SME and corporate markets. Through streamlining operations she developed sales and marketing strategies and nurtured past B2B relationships to ensure ITC would be their dealer of choice while simultaneously serving as their virtual C.I.O.
Karen joined Groupe Dynamite/Garage division to take over; the overall management, sales, operations and brand experience for her district. Karen was selected to redesign the company-wide training program offered to employees on all levels.
As Director of North American Business Development for Capazoo World, Karen was responsible for membership sales and creating various marketing strategies for a new start up Social Media internet site. She opened markets within the US and Canada, raising the organizational profile and obtained membership commitment prior to launching by participating in special events and tradeshows across North America.
Karen’s strength is participating in new start up companies and implementing product launches. Karen’s expert business acumen provides her with instinctive insight into the individual needs of businesses.
As former partner in “Beyond Networking” Karen co-developed a women’s networking group aimed at taking networking to the next level through customized seminars and training. With Audie McCarthy, Karen co-authored Leadership..it is not just for Leaders... Using her innate instructor abilities Karen facilitated a leadership workshop at Opportunities 2003, a province-wide three-day seminar.
Some of the many clients Karen has assisted are: Johnson Diversey, Kraft Canada, Hair Extreme and In Touch Communications. Many of these projects included training, sales/marketing and recruitment.
Karen holds past and present memberships with various professional venues. These include: Niagara Area Businesswomen’s Network, St. Catharines Chamber of Commerce, Oakville Chamber of Commerce, Women in Niagara and the Small Business Club of Niagara. She is also the recipient of the Business Link of Niagara’s Top 40 under 40 award.
